This is a vegetarian and vegan recipe adapted from "The Farm Vegetarian Cookbook (Revised Edition)" edited by Louise Hagler (Summertown, Tennessee: The Book Publishing Company, 1978).
Ingredients[]
Dry ingredients[]
- 1¼ cups whole wheat flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
Wet ingredients[]
- 1 tbsp. oil
- 1¼ cups water or ½ cup soymilk and ¾ cup water
Directions[]
- Sift together the dry ingredients.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the wet ingredients.
- Make a hole in the centre of the dry ingredients.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry and mix — only until ingredients are blended.
- Heat your non-stick griddle to a medium high temperature.
- Cook on one side for 2 minutes, then flip and cook 1 more minute on the other side.
- Serve hot.
